My Summer Health/Confidence Tips

Summer should be a fun time to spend with family and friends, but sadly for some of us spend the whole time worrying about appearance instead of enjoying ourselves. Here are a list of tips to help those in need, enjoy their summers and themselves.
  1. When it comes to make-up, always clean it of before bed especially if it has been a hot and sweaty day. Make-up left over night can cause so many problems, greasy skin, dry skin, break outs and wrinkles. If like me some days you jut can't be bothered standing of the sink for an extra two  minutes store some wipes or make-up remover beside your bed to make just that more easier.
  2. If you find during the summer that your make-up becomes thick, cakey, and heavy try a BB cream/ tinted moisturiser, it will feel light against your skin and wont cover up the beautiful freckles.
  3. Drink lots of water, I don't know if you heard but water is a miracle worker, it clears up your skin, wakes you up, gets rid of dark circles, makes your breath smell better and Beyoncé drinks it.
  4. Yellow stains on the armpits of your clothes is due to one culprit wet deodorant. When you spray on your deodorant make sure it has dried before you put you top/shirt/dress to save yourself from embarrassment.
  5. Summer is time for bold fun patterns, but be wary it can lead to some appearance woes. If there is any part of your body your are not comfortable with don't try to cover it with a pattern as it will just draw attention to it.
  6. Shop for yourself not the trends, no matter what's in shoulder pads or hot pants if you don't like it on your self don't wear it.
  7. Exercise as much as possible, as it keeps you healthy and releases stress.
  8. Summer's a great time to skip drinks with hard alcohol and choose a light, chilled alcoholic beverage
  9. Sleep Well
    Resist the urge to stay up later during long summer days. Instead pay attention to good sleep hygiene by keeping the same bedtime and wake-up schedule.
  10. Talk to people, human contact is really important don't hide away in a ball of netflix and tea, talking will make you feel better

My Top Summer Drinks

Summer is finally here and its time to relax in the garden with your favourite drinks. You can drink most drinks in summer, but here are my favourite drinks to sip pool side. All these drinks are simple to make (if you have the right stuff) and will take up time if you are bored.

Smoothies
 
 I absolutely love smoothies, especially thick ones. There are so many different creations you can make but here is my recipe for a strawberry and banana smoothie.
for 3-4 smothies
  • 250 g strawberries, hulled (green tops cut off)
  • 1 medium banana, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 300 ml  of milk
  • 150 ml natural yoghurt
  • 15 ml spoon clear honey
  1. Place all the above ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Adjust the sweetness according to taste and pour into serving glasses.
 Milkshakes
Milkshakes are amazing, especially if your in the mood for something creamy and has a bit more calories. Here is the recipe I use for chocolate milkshake (if you want you can replace the chocolate with strawberries and vanilla essence)
For 1 milskhake
  • 3 scoops chocolate ice cream
  • a couple of teaspoons of chocolate powder
  • 1/2 pint of milk
  1. Put all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate chips


Mocktails
Mocktails are a fresh fruity drink, that you can make for friends here are two of my favourite mocktails.

Tropical twister mocktail
  • 114 ml lemon lime soft drink
  • 114 ml raspberry Trop 50
  • 114 ml pineapple juice
1. Mix layers separately with ice in a blender
2. Blend  handful of Ice + lemon lime soft drink into bottom of glasses.
3. Blend  handful of Ice + Pineapple Juice. Pour slowly into glasses on top of bottom layer.
4. Blend Ice + Trop50 Raspberry Juice. Pour slowly on top of previous layers

Shirley Temple
  • 118ml orange juice
  • 118ml Lime soft drink
  • 118 ml ginger beer
  • 118 ml grenadine
  • slices of lime or cherries for garnish
  1. Fill a large glass half full with ice cubes.
  2. Layer the drink with orange juice first, pop then grenadine.
  3. Add 2 slices of lime and a maraschino cherry to the beverage, serve un-stirred.
  4. Stir before drinking
